A hospital can often be a depressing place. The Royal Perth Hospital is no exception. In the heart of the city, the hospital is Perth’s oldest. It was originally known as the Colonial Hospital after opening in 1855. From then it has been through a variety of facelifts and rebuilds. It was earmarked for closure in 2005 but somehow managed to survive. Its emergency department is a 24/7 revolving door. The doctors, nurses and staff work with unfaltering devotion to their patients. But the walls, corridors and decor are tired. You might even say it groans.
So imagine my surprise as I walked the McIver thoroughfare (you know the one), a group of ladies gathered. I initially thought they were staff but then…. this happened
I believe the ladies are from the Perth Harmony Choir. What a wonderful treat not just for patients but for those visiting loved ones and for staff who don’t often have the nicest of jobs to do.
